If you are already exhausted by the seemingly endless Christmas parties, dinners, shopping and all manner of other things that can make December feel frenetic, now is the time to take five minutes to ponder Christ's call to us in today's gospel to rest.
The gospel reading at Mass today is very short but contains a direct instruction from Christ:
Jesus said to the crowds: "Come to me, all you who labour and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."
So, while you ponder that, here is Handel's famous and beautiful setting of those words from Messiah.
