Fr Tim writes, “I am delighted to announce that Luke Demetri has been appointed Assistant Curate of St Michael’s, Croydon, effective from 27thJune 2021 when, God willing, he will be ordained Deacon.
Luke is currently a seminarian of St Stephen’s House, where he recently gained an excellent theology degree from the University of Oxford.
Luke is 28 years old and from South London. Before entering the seminary he spent four years teaching RE in secondary schools. He is currently on an extended placement with our friends at St Alban’s South Norwood.
We trust that we will be able to offer Luke a wonderful foundational experience of ordained ministry and we are heartened that our Bishops have again considered St Michael’s to be a suitable training parish.”
Commenting on his appointment, Luke Demetri says, “I am overjoyed that it has been announced that I will be joining you at St Michael’s in June as Assistant Curate. It was a pleasure to meet some of you over the summer when I was helping with keeping the Church open, but I look forward to meeting more of you, hopefully with less restrictions, in this new capacity.
In the meantime, please do pray for me as I prepare to begin my ordained ministry and for all those in training for the sacred priesthood. Be assured that I am praying for you all too.”
