I've chosen today a rather longer work - Wachet Auf (BWV 140), a cantata for advent by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Bach composed cantatas for Sunday services and other feasts during the liturgical year, and this one for Advent (composed in 1731) is among his most famous.
The cantata is based on the chorale melody and text of Wachet auf by Philipp Nicolai (1599).
